HEIRLOOM STITCHING

Use these stitches for sewing tablecloths, and for making decorative hems on clothing and decorative
stitching on shirt fronts.
A more attractive finish can be obtained if a wing needle (130/705H) is used. When a wing needle is used
and the stitch width has been set manually, before starting to sew, carefully turn the balance wheel toward
you and check that the needle does not touch the presser foot.

Hemstitching with

1 Heirloom
1. Pull out several threads and remove them from one section
of a piece of fabric so that the fabric is frayed. Removing
about 5 or 6 threads will leave a 1/8" (3.0 mm) frayed area.
2. Attach presser foot N.
3. With the wrong side of the fabric facing up, sew along one
edge of the frayed section.

4. Turn the fabric around, keeping the reverse side of the
fabric facing up, and sew along the other edge of the frayed
section so that the stitches are parallel and appear as
shown below.
