Regularly clean and lubricate the drivetrain according to the drivetrain manufacturer's instructions.
Do not use a high pressure water spray to wash your bicycle. Even water from a garden
hose can penetrate seals and water may seep into components, such as cranks, bearings,
or electrical components, potentially causing damage. Use a clean, damp cloth and bicycle
cleaning agents (where appropriate) for cleaning.
Do not expose the bicycle to prolonged direct sunlight or excessive heat, such as inside a
car parked in the sun or near a heat source such as a radiator.
From time to time, clean the speed sensor magnet on the rear wheel with a soft cloth.
Depending on your ride conditions and brake pad choice, dirt and/or metal shavings can
collect on the speed sensor magnet, which could lead to interruptions in motor support or
wrong speed readings.
WARNING! Failure to follow the instructions in this section may result in
damage to the components on your bicycle and will void your warranty, but,
most importantly, may result in serious personal injury or death. If your bicycle
exhibits any signs of damage, do not use it and immediately bring it to your
Authorized Specialized Retailer for inspection.
WARNING! Use a repair stand to support the bicycle during assembly or
maintenance, and a bicycle rack for transportation.
When placing the frame and/or bicycle in a repair stand, clamp the stand to
the seatpost and not the frame. Clamping the frame can cause damage to the
frame that may or may not be visible, and you may lose control and fall.
WARNING! Always turn off the battery when not in use and/or when working
on the bicycle.
CAUTION: Do not open the motor assembly. The motor assembly is a
sealed maintenance-free system. Any work on the motor assembly must be
performed by a Specialized Service Center.
WARNING! Before your first ride and regularly thereafter, ensure the pedals
are tightened to specification. Pedals can loosen over time depending on the
type and frequency of use. This is especially true if they were not installed
properly. Riding with loose pedals may damage the threads and the pedal may
disengage from the crank, which can result in a loss of control of the bicycle.

WARNING! Do not modify or attempt to repair the e-bike system except as
indicated in this user manual.
7.1. REPLACEM ENT PARTS A ND ACC ESS ORI ES
Specialized replacement parts and accessories are available through your Authorized
Specialized Retailer.
7.2. M OTOR SUPPORT ACT IVATION
As mentioned in this manual, with the system powered on, the motor support will activate
as soon as the cranks are rotated and torque is detected. This can also happen when not
actively riding the bicycle, e.g., when the bicycle is in a work stand or flipped upside down
and the cranks are turned or the chain is moved (which then turns the cranks), when walking
alongside and pushing the bicycle and the cranks are turned, or any other scenario where the
cranks are turned, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and the wheels are moving. What
this means is that the system should be powered off if motor assist is not desired to avoid any
unintentional engagement of the motor.
Below are examples of situations where you MUST ensure the bike is powered OFF:
Pushing the bicycle along without walk-assist activated.
Loading the bicycle for transportation (e.g., car or train).
Carrying the bicycle (e.g. over stairs).
Fixing a dropped chain.
Installing or removing a pedal.
Changing a flat tire.
Performing chain/drivetrain maintenance.
Performing general maintenance and repairs.
Washing the bicycle.
WARNING! Always power off the system when not actively riding the bicycle
and/or when motor support is not desired, including when performing any kind
of maintenance or work on the bicycle. Failure to follow this warning could
result in an unintentional engagement of the motor support which could result
in serious personal injury.
