8.1 Campervan battery
Your Monza campervan is equipped with two
batteries installed by Ford.
During driving the Primary/Engine battery in the
engine bay, and the Auxiliary (habitation area
battery) are maintained by the Ford electrical
system
When the engine is switched OFF, the EC940
control panel allows selection of either the
Auxiliary battery, or the Primary battery. The
default setting is Auxiliary battery.
The Auxiliary battery is specified and installed
by Ford, and it is important that if this battery
is replaced, it is a Ford replacement that is
fitted, to ensure correct operation while
engine is running. In addition, replacement of
the Auxiliary battery requires removal of the
passenger seat, Ford assistance is required to
undertake this.
WARNING: Switch off all appliances and
lamps before connecting or disconnecting
the battery. Open flames and smoking are
prohibited around the battery compartment.
Your campervan has been fitted with an in-line
40A fuse, between the Auxiliary battery and the
camper harness / MCU100 control system. This
is located in the passenger seat base, along with
a further 40A fuse between Primary battery and
camper harness / MCU100 control system. Do
not use a higher rated fuse as this may cause
damage to your campervan.
To preserve the life of your Auxiliary battery,
please observe the following:
1. Do not leave all internal lights on
simultaneously, as this will drain your
Auxiliary battery mode quickly.
2. If all lights are required simultaneously,
ensure the mains hook up lead is connected,
and that the on-board charger is operating
Please note the auxiliary battery or batteries
supplied with your campervan may not be fully
charged and should be charged for a minimum
of 24 hours before use.
Battery performance may be affected
by a number of aspects such as ambient
temperature, age, state of charger etc.
WARNING: It is imperative that the battery
is correctly secured as any movement could
cause wear to the casing and cause electrolyte
to leak.
62
WARNING: The passenger seat base
contains the battery, and other electrical
components. For your own safety do not store
anything other than the leisure battery in the
battery compartment
