SNMP in the NetVanta 1570
To change the engine ID, issue the snmp-server engine-id local command from Global Configuration Mode:
(config)#snmp-server engine-id local <id>
<id> Defines the engine ID for the system. Engine IDs are the 12-octet hexadecimal representation
(24 characters using 0 through 9 and/or a through f) defining a system on the management domain.
Configure the System Fields (Optional)
The SNMP server contact and chassis ID system fields can optionally be specified using the steps outlined in
the following sections:
SNMP Server Contact Information
Use the snmp-server contact command to configure the SNMP server contact information for the ASE
device. Use the no form of this command to remove the SNMP contact information.
(config)#snmp-server contact [<string>|email <string>|phone <string>]
<string> Populates the sysContact string using an alphanumeric string of information up to
255 characters.
email <string> Populates the sysContact e-mail string using an alphanumeric string of information up
to 255 characters.
phone <string> Populates the sysContact phone string using an alphanumeric string of information
up to 255 characters.
The following example configures the SNMP server contact with the following information:
e-mail:name@company.com and phone:123-456-7890:
(config)#snmp-server contact e-mail name@company.com
(config)#snmp-server contact phone 123456789
SNMP Server Chassis ID
Use the snmp-server chassis-id command to configure a chassis ID:
(config)#snmp-server chassis-id <string>
<string> Specifies the chassis ID using an alphanumeric string of information up to 255 characters.
