2.1.3 Mirroring ( RAID 1 )

RAID 1 mirrors the stored data from one to another. RAID 1 can only be performed with two hard
drives. For instance, if there are more than two hard drives, RAID (0+1) will be performed
automatically.
Disk Mirroring refers to the data duplication to two or more drives. Each drive contains a mirror
image of the data on the other drive. Virtual disk space equals to half of the combined capacity of
the installed disks although mirroring causes operational overhead resulting in lower performance
for write operations it does provide the highest data reliability among RAID Level 0 to 5 with very
high performance for read intensive operations.
