5 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
► Check the container, cap and hoses for
leaks.
► Check the LEDs for error messages,
► Check that the battery has not been dam‐
aged. Never use or charge a malfunction‐
ing, damaged, cracked, leaking or
deformed battery.
► Never work with a damaged or malfunction‐
ing sprayer. In case of doubt, have the
sprayer checked by your authorized STIHL
servicing dealer.
■ If the sprayer or battery is damaged, not work‐
ing properly, has been left outdoors and
exposed to rain or damp conditions, or drop‐
ped into water or other liquid, its components
may no longer function properly and safety
devices may be inoperative. To reduce the risk
of personal injury and property damage:
► Take the sprayer and battery to your
authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be
checked before further operation.
■ Genuine STIHL replacement parts are specifi‐
cally designed to match your sprayer and
meet safety and performance requirements.
Use of parts that are not authorized or
approved by STIHL may cause serious or fatal
injury or property damage.
► STIHL recommends that only identical
STIHL replacement parts be used.
5.7
Using the Sprayer
5.7.1
Filling the Container
WARNING
■ To reduce the risk of injury from leakage of the
spray solution:
► Before using the sprayer with chemicals, fill
the container with fresh water; pressurize
the sprayer and practice spraying; check for
leaks; when thoroughly familiar with the
sprayer operation, drain the water and fol‐
low normal operating procedures.
■ To reduce the risk of injury or property dam‐
age from chemical exposure:
► Fill the container in a well-ventilated area,
outdoors and follow all handling instructions
provided on the chemical product label.
► Prevent spillage by placing the sprayer on a
level surface before filling. Make sure it is
secure and will not topple over.
► Do not overfill the container with chemical
solution.
► If you fill the container with a hose attached
to a central water supply, keep the hose out
of the solution to reduce the risk of back‐
0458-600-8221-B
flow, i.e., to reduce the risk that chemicals
could be sucked into the water supply in
case of a sudden vacuum.
11.
► Calculate the correct amount of chemical
solution so that it is used up completely,
with no extra solution left in the container
after finishing work.
■ To reduce the risk of personal injury from
improper dilution:
► Read the chemical product label and calcu‐
late the proper dilution before starting to fill
the container. Measure carefully. When fil‐
led to the maximum mark, the container
holds 17 l (4.5 US gal.).
■ To reduce the risk of fire and explosion:
► Never fill the container with flammable or
combustible materials, which can explode
under pressure.
■ To reduce the risk of chemical leakage:
► Never fill the container with caustic or corro‐
sive materials.
■ To reduce the risk injury from exposure to
scalding liquids temperatures:
► Never fill the container with liquids having a
temperature above 40 °C (104 °F).
► Never leave the sprayer in direct sunlight or
near any heat source.
5.7.2
Before Spraying
WARNING
■ To reduce the risk of personal injury from leak‐
age:
► Inspect your sprayer before and after each
use. Make sure the tank is sealed properly
and not leaking. Check the cap and all con‐
nections to ensure they are tight. Make sure
the hose is securely attached and in good
condition before pressurizing the container.
► Never attempt to pressurize the unit by any
method other than with the integrated pump
module.
■ Misuse or unauthorized use may result in per‐
sonal injury and property damage.
► Use the sprayer only as described in this
instruction manual.
■ Using a sprayer that is modified, damaged,
improperly adjusted or maintained, or not com‐
pletely and securely assembled can lead to a
malfunction and increase the risk of serious
personal injury or death.
► Never operate a sprayer that is modified,
damaged, improperly maintained or not
completely and securely assembled.
► Always check your sprayer for proper con‐
dition and operation before starting work,
