Weight Test

3.3.
To ensure proper calibration and become familiar with the instrument, run a weight test.
This test simulates moisture loss by the removal of one of two known weights. Both a
three and a five-gram weight are required.
This test may be used as part of your control verification program:
• At the interval established by your quality assurance/control program;
• Any time the unit is moved, the power switched off, the instrument is jarred or
bumped; and/or
• If there is any concern about the accuracy of the instrument.
When:
Once daily or weekly, before testing begins, or according to your quality
policy.
Purpose: To ensure that the balance is working properly
How:
Have 3 and 5-gram weights available. Ensure the main test screen, with the
thermometer, is displayed. Be sure not to touch the weights with your
hands, always use tweezers
1: Open the lid; place a clean, dry, empty pan on the pan support.
2: Close the lid
3: Press [Memory]
4: Highlight "(Factory) WEIGHT" then press [START]
5: Allow instrument to tare empty pan
6: When instructed, open the lid
7: Stack the 3 and 5 gram weights in center of pan
8: Close the lid and allow instrument to weigh the sample
9: After the screen changes to the main test screen, gently
open the lid, and gently but quickly remove the 3 gram
weight, and close the lid
10: Allow test to run to completion. Value should be 37.5000%, +/- .0200,
(37.4800% to 37.5200%)
If the weight test passes, the unit is operating normally.
If the result is out of range, repeat the balance calibration and run the weight test again
with a new sample pan. If the second test is unsuccessful, call AMETEK Brookfield
customer service at 602-470-1414 or 800-528-7411 or your regional service center.
