Balance Calibration

The MAX
5000XL must be powered on until the balance temperature stability icon in
the lower left corner of the main screen changes from unstable
the balance to stabilize before beginning the balance calibration. The unit should not be
moved, jarred, or otherwise disturbed in any way during the calibration period. A
vibration-free table will aid the calibration process. If vibration is excessive, the
instrument will stop the calibration process and indicate the reason.

When:
When instrument first arrives; whenever the instrument is moved; and once
each day or week thereafter, or as dictated by your quality policy.
Purpose: To ensure proper balance calibration
How:
Have 50-gram weight available. Ensure main test screen is displayed. Be
sure not to touch the weights with your hands, always use the tweezers.
1: Open the lid; place a clean, dry, empty pan on the pan support
2: Close the lid
3: From the main test screen, press [Menu]
4: Highlight "CALIBRATION MENU" and press [ENT]
5: Highlight "BALANCE CALIBRATION" and press [ENT]
6: Highlight "CALIBRATE BALANCE" and press [ENT]
7: Proceed with calibration as instructed on screen. (Do not place the
50 gram weight on the pan until instructed to do so!!!)
8: Test results will appear on the screen in a few minutes
If the result is PASS, follow the instructions to return to testing.
If the result is FAIL, perform the calibration one more time. If it fails again, call AMETEK
Brookfield customer service at 602-470-1414 or 800-528-7411 or your regional service
center.
