INTRODUCTION
The FX-40DU-E data access unit is installed in the face of a control panel and connected to the
program connector of an FX series programmable controller located inside the same control panel.
User Screen Display
A versatile black and white liquid crystal screen with back-lighting for viewing ease.

Data for up to 256 user screens can be stored.
(Screens can be created either in the EDIT mode of the FX-40DU-E data access unit or by using
the FX-PCS-DU/AT personal computer software kit intended for this purpose.)

In addition to letters of the alphabet, numerals, simple graphics such as lines, circles, and bar
graphs can be displayed.
(3) Screens can be selected for display either individually or overlaid on other screens through key
operations at the programmable controller or FX-40DU-E. It is possible to change numerical
values on the displayed screen, send data to the programmable controller, and switch devices
ON and OFF.
Monitor Function
This function is used to display and/or change the ONIOFF status of programmable controller devices
and the settings and current values of timers, counters and data registers. The forced ONIOFF
function can also be used with a designated device.

Data Sampling Function
Specified data registers (2 points) can be sampled either in a fixed cycle or in response to a trigger
condition. It is possible to store a maximum of 2,000 data items for fixed cycle sampling and a
maximum of 800 data items for trigger condition sampling.
(1) The sampling data can be displayed either in list or graph form.
(2) The sampling data can be printed out at a printer in list form.
Other Functions
The FX-40DU-E also features a variety of other functions:

An integral real-time clock that allows the time to be set and displayed.
(2) A data file function that allows storage of data up to a quantity corresponding to 4000 points
available in the data registers in the programmable controller and enables transfer of this data
to the programmable controller as required.
(3) The screen back-lighting can be switched off automatically
(4) Secret entry codes can be registered.
