12. Operating Simcenter SCADAS RS

General operational considerations

Warning!
Do NOT connect the daisy chain to more than one power source such as a UPS Unit
and a Siemens approved AC/DC adapter or two Siemens approved AC/DC adapters.
This may cause damage to the units.
It is allowed to use two or more UPS Units, because these units deliver power only
"downstream" to subsequent units.
Caution!
At ambient temperatures higher than +40 °C (+ 104 °F), metal parts can get
extremely hot. Please exercise caution when touching the housing and connectors
of Simcenter SCADAS RS units and attached accessories. Ensure proper protection
(e.g. gloves) against burns or other injuries that may be caused as a result of
internal heating of the equipment.
Attention!
Vents equalize internal and external pressure and provide an outward path for
moisture and vapor, which are dissipated during heating and cooling during
normal use.
A specific protective vent is used to comply to IP6X requirements in combination
with the large temperature span of –40 to +85 °C (−40 to +185 °F) and
altitude. It is recommended to avoid extreme sudden changes in temperature, like
submersion into cold water from working at maximum operational temperature, or
while units are wet or dirty.
