3. Introduction
Introduction to SCADAS RS system
This chapter gives generic information about the Simcenter SCADAS RS system. The purpose of this
chapter is to inform the user about what the Simcenter SCADAS RS system is meant for and what the
products comprise of. It is the responsibility of the user to use the Simcenter SCADAS RS system in
accordance with its purpose and intended use.
Main functions and intended use
The Simcenter SCADAS RS system is a mobile system of the Simcenter SCADAS family. SCADAS stands for
Signal Conditioning And Data Acquisition System.
Simcenter SCADAS RS is both a distributed and centralized system for front-end signal conditioning
and data acquisition hardware. There are several ways of mounting and connecting the different units.
Simcenter SCADAS RS is especially designed for data acquisition under demanding test conditions.
Each system may consist of one or more Signal Conditioning Units, connected in daisy chain to a
Simcenter SCADAS RS Recorder Unit for autonomous operation or in combination with a PC, tablet or
smartphone. Similarly, daisy chains of Signal Conditioning Units (CU) can be connected directly to a PC.
Units are combined in daisy chains using a single cable for power and data.
Simcenter SCADAS RS hardware for data acquisition under demanding test conditions
As and when required the Simcenter SCADAS RS system is connected with a host PC that runs Simcenter
Testlab Neo software.
