The Simcenter SCRS-ECAT is an Ethercat compatible slave device. It requires an external Ethercat Master
device in order to function and operate properly.
It allows to digitally connect the Simcenter SCADAS RS to the Ethercat
It provides a low latency data output to the Ethercat master. The specific task for a durability application
is to provide a digital data output to test rig controllers, like MTS or IST (INSTRON).
®
Ethercat
is a real-time Ethernet based field bus. Main targets of Ethercat development were to provide
the hardware and software interface to provide a low latency, low jitter and short cycle times (< 100 μs)
data communication and provide a method of < 1 μs synchronization between Ethercat devices.
The Ethercat Slave Information file (ESI) with the description of the functional Ethercat capabilities of the
ECAT unit can be downloaded from the ECAT unit, so that it can be used by the Ethercat Master. The file
location named "ECAT.XML" is: http://SCRS-ECAT/ESI/dowload.htm.
Most EtherCat Masters are also able to do an online interrogation of these functionality directly from
the Slave device on the bus (CAN open over Ethercat - COE), and ECAT unit dynamically provides active
channel information.
Maximum power consumption in most demanding operating conditions 6 W.
Ethercat is a registered trademark of Beckhoff Automation GmbH.
