ON/OFF switching

The entire system is switched on by pushing the ON/OFF button of the "main" UPS Unit. This will start up
the REC Unit. Next, the REC Unit will distribute the power to the daisy chain connectors. If there are UPS
Units present in the daisy chains that are connected to the REC Unit, these secondary UPS Units will start
up automatically from the moment they detect power in their upper daisy chain connector. Next, they
will provide power to their bottom daisy chain connector.
To switch off the system manually, switch off the "main" UPS Unit in the system. The UPS Unit will send
a shutdown request to the REC Unit. The REC Unit will safely terminate any running measurement and
save the data. Next, the REC Unit will instruct all UPS Units in the system to enter power off mode.
The UPS Unit ensures a stable power supply. It can continue to provide full power for a specific time
if the input voltage drops or fails. It indicates whether there is sufficient power in the system for a
particular configuration. It publishes its health status and generates a warning to the user when action
is needed to prevent power problems. All this contributes to the reliability and robustness of the entire
system.
If the input voltage fails longer than a certain amount of time the UPS Unit will start a system shutdown
procedure. The running measurement(s) will be safely terminated, and the data will be saved before the
entire system shuts down.
The maximum time the UPS Unit can deliver power depends on the condition of the internal power
buffer, the number of units and sensors connected, the configuration and the ambient temperature.
The UPS Unit provides power to the system through an internal power buffer. Upon depletion of this
power buffer, the system is shut down safely, preserving all data recorded on-board.
The UPS enables an intelligent Power Management system that informs the user about the power needs
of the current hardware topology and channel configuration.

Attention!
Secondary UPS Units are not meant to be operated locally. They are switched ON
or OFF automatically, by the "main" UPS state. If one of the secondary UPS goes
OFF, i.e. by lack of available power, only downstream units will be switched OFF.
