The TC20 Unit enables Simcenter SCADAS RS to condition up to 20 thermocouples of different types.
These temperature sensors consist of two leads of different materials that have a single junction that is
used as temperature sensing point.
The actual temperature difference between both materials at the junction produces a small output
voltage directly related to the temperature of the junction. This phenomenon is known as the Seebeck
effect. Several material combinations are standardized and have been given a type number. Each type
has its own sensitivity and a non-linear relation between temperature and output voltage.
The TC20 Unit automatically corrects for sensitivity and linearity curves with the selection of the
connected thermocouple type. Built-in linearization follows ITS-90 (International Temperature Scale)
standard.
The TC20 Unit also detects open cable issues per channel (burnout detection).
The TC20 Unit supports the most common types K, J and T and in addition also B, E, N, R, and S.
