2.5.2 Connecting DC Power
Note
For IEC 61850 compliance, use an IEC 61850 compliant PoE power supply with
power cabling no longer than 3 m (118 in).
Otherwise, Siemens recommends using the RUGGEDCOM RPS1300 switch-mode
AC power supply. For more information about this power supply, refer to
support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109478699.
Note
Power sources can be connected to either power supply terminal block on the device.
2.5.2
Connecting DC Power
The device features dual power supply inputs to allow for redundant connections to
separate, independent power supplies. Each power supply terminal block provides
reverse polarity protection and accepts secondary connections (+/-) from the same
power supply (if available).
To connect an external DC power source to the device, do the following:

Examples" (Page 18).
Electrical hazard – risk of damage to the device
For Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support, make sure the PoE power source is isolated
from earth/chassis ground. Do not connect either positive or negative terminals to
chassis ground.

WARNING
If connecting a secondary power source, make sure the power source currently
connected to the device is disabled (e.g. power cable is unplugged from the wall
receptacle).
Insert the terminal block(s) into the device and tighten both screws. A power
terminal block must be installed in each port even if only one external power
supply is connected.
