Tail End (Onstage) Maintenance
Perform the following maintenance procedure for the tail end of the hoist:
1:
Move the hoist to its upper limit.
2:
Remove the tail end cover to gain access to the drum shaft and Acme screw.
3:
Use a flashlight to visually inspect the drum, cables and internal sheaves for alignment and wear.
4:
Apply a small amount of 3-IN-ONE oil to a shop towel and use it to wipe down and clean the
drum shaft.
5:
Apply a liberal amount of 3-IN-ONE oil to another clean shop towel and lubricate the drum shaft
that you just cleaned.
Note:
6:
Using a clean shop towel, wipe the Acme screw off until clean.
7:
Lubricate the Acme screw using the white lithium grease. Typically one pass with a spray is
sufficient for lubricating the screw.
Note:
8:
Replace the tail end cover.
9:
Visually inspect the cable-out sleeves, loft blocks and diverters for alignment and wear.
10:
Check the motor end and tail end beam clamps that attach the hoist to the structural steel. The
9/16" hex head screws should have a torque value of 23-27 Nm (17-20 ft/lb).
11:
Check that the set screws on the backbone stiffener clamps are tightened.
12:
Lower the batten to low trim. Stop and start the hoist to check for excessive brake noise and
listen for rubbing cables or irregular noise.
13:
Inspect all the cables for signs of fraying or kinks.
Motor End (Offstage) Maintenance
Perform the following maintenance procedure for the motor end of the hoist.
1:
Turn off power at the circuit breaker and unplug the communications plug from the top of the
Vortek NXT hoist.
2:
Open the control panel and perform pull tests for your all wires. Tighten as needed.
3:
Pull test all wires and tighten as needed at terminal access points in low voltage wireways.
Service and Maintenance
Always ensure that you are using clean towels to avoid spreading dirt and grime.
