Vertical Mounting

The standard mounting method of a Vortek NXT hoist is to be hung from the structural steel in a
horizontal position. The previous sections detailed this method of mounting the hoist. If you are
planning to mount the hoist vertically, the following procedure provides some guidelines for you to
follow.
1:
Position the hoist in its crate adjacent to the lineset position where you will install the hoist.
2:
Remove the wooden cover, banding and any packing material.
3:
Create two 4.5 m (15 ft) sling assemblies
using 3/16" diameter galvanized aircraft
cable by terminating a thimble on each
end after securing a 38 cm (15") section
of rubber tubing in the center with cable
ties. You use these slings to lift the hoist
vertically from its crate.
4:
Thread the first sling assembly through the holes in the motor end beam clamp (stationary) so
that the rubber tubing section is in contact with the hoist. This should leave equal lengths of the
sling assembly on either side of the hoist.
5:
Thread the second sling assembly through the triangular opening created by the tail end beam
clamp so that the rubber tubing section is in contact with the hoist. Again, this should leave equal
lengths of the sling assembly on either side of the hoist.
CAUTION:
20
The motor and tail end beam clamps should be positioned and tightened properly but
you should verify that they are secured before lifting.
