Installation of Loft Blocks
Note:
Routing Lift Lines
Note:
The Vortek NXT hoists have up to 7 lift lines per batten; depending on the installation, all lift lines may
come out of the end of the hoist or there may be one or two cables coming directly out of the bottom
of the unit at either end.
For Vortek NXT hoists, ETC ships all wire ropes equal to the longest length.
CAUTION:
Below is an illustration of a unit with 7 lines: 2 lines drop directly out of the hoist and 5 lines come out
of the Tail End.
CAUTION:

Loft blocks and other wire rope routing accessories are provided by the installer.
Requirements are:
Loft blocks must have a minimum D:d ratio of 25:1. (D:d ratio is the ratio between
the diameter of the block and the diameter of the wire rope.) As this hoist uses 3/
16" wire rope, the minimum diameter of the pulley must be 120 mm (4.72 in.).
Loft blocks and other routing devices must be rated for the load.
Loft blocks must be positioned so that the lift lines exiting the hoist must not be
greater than a 2 degree angle in either the horizontal or vertical direction.
Loft blocks must be positioned so that the lift lines do not intersect each other or
other routing devices.
Each ETC Rigging project has a detailed set of job drawings which determine the
installation location of each hoist and the related equipment. Refer to these
drawings for system layout, lift line layout, and location.
Lift lines exiting the hoist must not be greater than a 2 degree angle in either
the horizontal or vertical direction.
Be careful that through cables do not cross over each other when routing.
The pass-through idler area on a block is usually not load bearing.
