System Setup and Test

Once the hoist installation procedure is complete, you should verify the wiring of the Power and
Control Distribution box (PCD box) and verify that the hoist functions properly. You should also set the
upper and lower travel limits for the hoist.

Verify Proper Wiring

1:
Locate the PCD box that will supply power and control data to the hoist.
2:
Plug a phase checker into the 208VAC outlet.
3:
Turn on the circuit breaker on the PCD box.
4:
Use the phase checker to verify proper wiring.
5:
Turn off the circuit breaker on the PCD box.
To verify proper wiring for 400V or 480V hoists, momentarily "bump" the hoist in the up direction. If
the hoist runs in the wrong direction, STOP IMMEDIATELY, disconnect power and have a qualified
electrician reverse the phase wiring in the PCD. Note that this does not apply to Variable Frequency
Drive (VFD) hoists, as they will always run in the appropriate direction based on the controls.

Verify Hoist Addresses

All hoists ship addressed as "001". Prior to attempting to commission the system or use the system
controller, be sure that each hoist has been set to a unique address that is within the capabilities of the
system controller (for example, a single QT-24 controller can only control hoist addresses from 1-24).
Addressing is done from the red dials found on the control interface on the hoist. Adjust the dials to
display the desired address. From left to right the dials represent,100s, 10s, and 1s.
CAUTION:

Test System Operation

Testing hoist operation should be performed from the back of the Motor Control Box. Limited local
control is available on the rear panel.

Note:
System Setup and Test
Failure to assign each hoist a unique address will result in system errors and
will prevent the system from functioning properly.
You may need to remove a small cover from the control switch to access it using a
screwdriver. The screw is captured and the panel has a wire tether that prevents it
from falling. Be sure to replace the cover plate after testing hoist operation.
