  • Page 3: General

This instruction provides an overview of the ArcValidator system and explains how to use the computer software to transfer data from the ArcValidator RC to a computer and process verification reports and certificates. It also tells how to add and modify equipment profiles that you can use for verification with the ArcValidator RC device.
  • Page 4: About Equipment

1.1 About equipment ArcValidator RC (Remote Control) device ArcValidator RC is a hand-held device used for operating ArcValidator L 650 load bank, saving and transferring data to and from a computer and for controlling the verification event. You plug it to the load bank and follow the instructions which tell you what to do, step by step, if you use the guided manual verification.
  • Page 5 ArcValidator L 650 load bank ArcValidator L 650 load bank simulates the welding arc and determines whether the actual voltage, current and wire feed speed of your welding equipment matches with the values shown (and set) on the meters. The load bank can val- idate all kinds of welding machines up to 600 amperes current output.
  • Page 6 Mains cable (connected to load bank): ArcValidator computer software ArcValidator computer software is used for reporting, certificate creation and equipment profile management. You can create professional, customized reports and certificates with customer info in place with little manual editing required.
  • Page 7 Kemppi. For more information, see "Installing label printer driver" on page 17. If you are verifying other than Kemppi welding equipment, use the computer software to create the equipment pro- files, and then transfer them to the ArcValidator RC using the DataStick.
  • Page 8: Installation

Browse to the DataStick root folder. Select the installation link (ArcV.application). >> The newest version of the ArcValidator computer software is downloaded from Kemppi's internet servers. Run the installer and follow the on-screen guidance to install the software. Do not run the software installer as an admin user.

2.3 ArcValidator settings The settings menu on the ArcValidator RC device includes the basic time and date settings as well as the option to use the ArcValidator load bank in manual mode. Also the option to enable or disable the automatic trigger sensing function is available for manual verification.

In automatic verification the auto trigger sensing function is not needed, the ArcValidator system controls the equip- ment independently during verification. Refer to "Verification" on page 20 for more information on automatic and manual verification.

In guided manual verification mode ArcValidator is compatible with the vast majority of welding equipment makes and models with absolute unit meters for set values. Manual verification is a step-by-step process with ArcValidator RC asking for the necessary information and guiding the user forward.
  • Page 21: Power Source Verification

Connect and turn the equipment on (as described in "Connections" on page 10). >> Turn the welding equipment on first and then the ArcValidator load bank. Wait until both are fully started. >> Ensure that the welding equipment settings are suitable for the verification process in question.
  • Page 22: Wire Feeder Verification

For adding and editing equipment profiles, refer to "Managing equipment types and models" on page 28. For verifying the wire feed speed, the ArcValidator load bank incorporates a dedicated wire feed interface on the side of the load bank. To use this, the gas nozzle must be removed from the welding gun.

Using the ArcValidator computer software, open and finalize the reports and export the certificates (as described in "Viewing and editing verification reports" on page 25).
  • Page 24: Transferring Verification Data To Computer

To transfer the verification data gathered during verification to the computer: Remove the ArcValidator DataStick from the RC device. Connect DataStick to the computer's USB port. (When you do this for the first time, the ArcValidator computer soft- ware must be installed.) When ready, the application imports the verification files from the DataStick.
