Brake System
Installation
Apply Honda Anaerobic Thread Lock
or equivalent to
the
caliper
mounting bolt
threads.
Install
the
caliper
and bracket assembly
on
the
fork
leg and
tighten the bracket
bol
ts.
Torque:
31
N•m
(3.
1
kg-m, 22 ft-lb)
Connect the brake hose
eyelet
joint with two new
sealing
washers,
then
tighten the oil bolt.
Torque:
35

Fill the master cylinder With DOT 4 brake fluid from a
sealed
container
and
bleed any air from the front brake system (page
13-3).
Install the brake pads
(page
13-
5).
Rear Brake Caliper
Removal
CAUTION
Avoid spilling f luid
on
painted, plastic
or
rubber
parts.
Place a shop towel
over
these parts whenever
the
system is serviced.
Drain the rear brake fluid from the hydraulic
system.
Remove
the rear wheel
(page
1
2-3).
Remove the brake pads (page
13-5).
Place a clean
container
under the caliper and remove the brake
hose
bolt,
sealing
washer
and
eyelet
joint
from the
caliper.
Slide the brake caliper backward and pull
it
off
of
the
swingarm.
Disassembly
Remove the following:

Callper guard
plate
-
Caliper bracket
-
Brake
pad
retainer
-
Pad
spring
-
Caliper pm boot
-
Bracket pin boot
-
Piston
from cylinder
