Brake System
Installation
Coat a
new
0
-ring
with clean brake fluid and install it in
the
reservoir
hose joint cup
Connect the
reservoir
hose to the master cylinder
with
a new
snap ring.

commercially

ailable
in U.S.A
.
Attach the
master cylinder
to
the
frame.
Connect
the
rear brake pedal
to the master
cylinder
push rod
and install the
brake pedal
(page
13-141.
Apply Honda Anaerobic
Thread Lock or
equivalent
to t he rear
master
cylinder
mounting
bolt threads.
Install
and
tighten the rear
master
cylinder
mounting bolts to
the specified torque.
Torque:
16
N•m (1 .5
kg-m,
11
ft-lb)
Connect the rear brake hose eyelet joint
wit
h the
hose bolt
and
two
new sealing washers.
CAUTION
Align
the
ey
elet joint with
the
notch in the master
cylinder first
.
then tighten
the
bolt.
After Installing
the
brake
hose
t
o
the master
cylinder.
make sure it does
not
interfere
w ith the movement of
the
shock
absorber.
Tighten
the
brake oil bolt to the specified
torque.
Torque:
35
N•m

Fill the brake
system
with DOT 4 brake fluid from a sealed
con-
tainer and
bleed the
system of air
(page 13-31.

CAUTION
• A void
spllllng fluid
on painted
, plastic
or rubber
parts
.
Place a shop
t ow
el
over
t hese parts
whenever the
system
is serviced.
Drain the front brake fluid from the hydraulic
system.
Remove the
brake
pads [page
13-5).
Place
a clean container under the caliper and
remove the brake
hose bolt
,
sealing
washer
and eyelet joint from the
caliper.
Remove the
brake caliper
bracket bolt, then remove the brake
caliper and bracket as an assembly.
