Brake Pad Replacement
A contaminated brake
disc
or
pad reduces
stopping
power.
Discard
contaminated
pads and
clean
a
con-
taminated disc with Honda
Contact/
Brake
Cleaner or an
equivalent
high quality brake degreasing
agent.
NOTE
Always
replace
the brake pads in
pairs to
assure even
disc
pressure.
Remove
the pad pin plug and loosen the pad pin.
Pull the
pad pin out of the caliper.
Remove
the brake pad.
Insert new right side pad and push the
caliper
piston to allow
clearance
for
that installation of
the
left side new pad.
Install
new
left side
pad.
Install the pad
pin
by pushing the pads
against
the
caliper
to
depress the
pad
spring.
T
ighten the pad pin to the specified torque.
Torque:
18 N•m (1.8 kg-m
,
13
ft-lb)
