AIR EXHAUST TIME DELAY CHECK
To time the delay for exhaust, two methods can be
used; one using vacuum source and one using air
pressure.
(1)
METHOD
USING VACUUM: Install cover
plate on height control valve using gasket. Con-
nect pressure line to air exhaust port and open air
pressure to 95 psi. Move the overtravel lever
downward quickly approximately two inches and
simultaneously start counting the number of
seconds before the vacuum gauge starts to drop

off. A delay of 1 to 6 second·s should exist.
Repeat this check.
(2) METHOD
USING Air Pressurf':
Install valve
cover with new gasket on valve assembly. Con-
nect air pressure supply hose to bellows port.
Move overtravel lever downward quickly ap-
proximately two inches and simultaneously start
counting the seconds before air starts to escape
from the exhaust port. A delay of I to 6 seconds
should exist.
A time delay over 6 seconds could mean too large a
valve lever gap adjustment and a time delay under I
second would mean too small a valve lever gap ad-
justment. If the time delay is not within I to 6
seconds, first recheck the fluid level. If fluid level is
satisfactory, the valve lever gap adjusment must be
repeated.
After obtaining proper valve adjustments, install
valve cover using new gasket. Install new screen in
bellows port. If screen was removed from exhaust
port, install new screen and exhaust fitting.
Place tape over ends of air line ports until such
time as valve assembly is installed on the vehicle.
