Troubleshooting

If you suspect that the server does not work normally, read this section and follow the troubleshooting.
5.1

Problem of Powering on

[?] Unable to power on the server
Is the server properly supplied with power?
 Check if the power cord connects to the power outlet or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that
meets the power specifications for Blade Enclosure.
 Use the power cord that comes with Blade Enclosure and confirm that the code is not broken and
does not have bent plugs.
 Make sure that the circuit breaker for the connected power outlet is on.
 If the power cord is plugged to a UPS, make sure the UPS is powered and it outputs power. Refer
to the manual that comes with the UPS for details.
 Make sure that the CPU blade is installed correctly. The following setting of BIOS Setup Utility can
be set the feature for power link with a UPS.
Server  AC-LINK
Does Blade Enclosure contain the required number of power units?
 Refer to User's Guide of Blade Enclosure for the required number of power units.
Has the EM card been initialized?
 If the EM card is not initialized, the power unit does not supply the power to the CPU blade.
Does Blade Enclosure contain the required number of fans in correct position?
 Refer to the User's Guide of Blade Enclosure for the required number of fans and their installation
positions.
Have the CPU blade (containing mezzanine card) and switch modules been installed in correct
position?
 Refer to the User's Guide of Blade Enclosure for proper installation positions.
 When a mezzanine card (Type1, Type2) is installed to the CPU blade and a suitable switch
module is not mounted on the switch module slot of Blade Enclosure, the following error message
is shown to the SIGMABLADE monitor of Blade Enclosure.
Check the connection between the relevant switch module and the CPU blade.
Did you turn on the power of Blade Enclosure within 60 seconds after AC power is supplied to each
power unit?
 After the AC power is supplied to the CPU blade (POWER LED lights amber), wait for about 60
seconds or longer, and then turn on the power of Blade Enclosure by using POWER Switch.
