Adjusting the anti-scalp wheels (Fig. 11)
Required tools (supplied): two combination wrenches
The anti-scalp wheels are designed to minimize the chance of
scalping the lawn when mowing on rough, uneven terrain. After
setting the cutting height, adjust the anti-scalp wheels so they
extend below the deck but do not contact the ground.
The anti-scalp wheels can be set in one of four positions:
Position A: less than 2" (51 mm) grass cutting height
Position B: 2" – 3" (51 – 76 mm) grass cutting height
Position C: 3" – 4" (76 – 102 mm) grass cutting height
Position D: greater than 4" (102 mm) grass cutting height
The anti-scalp wheels are set at Position B by default in production. They are held in place by one nut and lug bolt each.
1. Raise the deck to the desired cutting height.
2. Use the 13 mm end of the combination wrench to stabilize the nut first and then loosen and remove the lug bolt on
the other side using the 15 mm end of the combination wrench.
3. Move the anti-scalp wheel to the desired position. Then tighten the lug bolt and nut securely with the wrenches. The
recommended torque for the lug bolts is 22-26 ft-lb (30-35 Nm).
4. Repeat with the other anti-scalp wheel, making sure both wheels are installed in the same position.
Adjusting the seat (Fig. 12)
DANGER: Be sure the seat is secured to the tractor with the
step bolts before operating the tractor. A seat that is not secure
can cause the operator to lose control of the tractor and result in
possible death or serious personal injury.
Adjust the seat position to ensure you are able to make firm contact
with the parking-brake pedal and the accelerator pedal before
operating the tractor.
The seat can be adjusted forward and rearward by rotating the seat
position adjustment lever under the seat up.
1. Rotate the seat position adjustment lever up and hold it, then
move the seat forward or backward to the desired position.
2. Release the seat position adjustment lever and ensure that the
seat is locked in position.
