OPERATION
PORT ASSIGNMENT
In normal operation, your Z-29 Terminal will use the DTE port
to communicate with a computer. The DCE port could be con-
nected to a second computer or an optional printer. Occasion-
ally you may want to exchange ports. Or, you may wish to
connect the Z-29 Terminal to two different computers and
selectively use one or the other without making any wiring
changes. This feature allows you to send the signals to one
port or the
other.
However, be aware that there are limitations
between the two ports for handshaking arrangements and that
the baud rate used by one port has to be the same for the
other.
You can change the routing of the signals to the DTE and DCE
ports by pressing the
ii
key. When swapped, the display will
show:

TERMINAL MODES
Your Z-29 Terminal can emulate four common terminal types:
The Heath/Zenith
H/Z-19,
the Lear Siegler ADM
3A,
the
Hazeltine 1500, or the ANSI (American National Standards
Institute) stal')dard X3.64-1979 (similar to the VT100). Each
of the four modes responds differently to codes it receives
.
For more
information,
refer to the Appendices in this Manual.
You can change the Terminal Mode by pressing
the~
key on
the main keyboard. The next Terminal emulated will be dis-
played.
If you do not want to use that
mode,
continue to press
the~
key until the mode you want to use is
displayed.
HOLD SCREEN
The HOLD SCAN (Hold Screen) function offers the operator
control over the scrolling of the
display.
When activated, you
must press the
IM••1d;l•11!
key to allow each new line to be
displayed. To display an entire new page of information, press
either!§j:Ujikey and the!M••1d;l•11!key atthe same
time.
