7. TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM
1.    W hen the ignition key is turned 
to «ON», the indicator light or the
dashboard remain switched off
2.    W ith the ignition key turned to 
«START» the light flashes and 
the starter motor does not run
3.    W ith the ignition key turned 
to «START» the light or the
dashboard come on, but the 
starter motor does not run
4.    W ith the ignition key turned to 
«START» the starter motor runs 
but the engine does not start
5.    S tarting is difficult or the engine 
runs erratically
6.    W eak engine performance 
during cutting
7.    T he engine shuts down whilst 
working.
8.    T he cutting means do not 
engage or do not stop promptly 
when they are disengaged   
LIKELY CAUSE
The safety device of the electronic 
circuit board has cut in due to:
–    b adly connected battery  
–    b attery terminals crossed
–    fl at battery
–  blown fuse
–    w et circuit board
– starting conditions have not
been met
–    i nsufficiently charged battery
–    m alfunction on the starter relay
–    i nsufficiently charged battery
–    f aulty fuel supply
–    f aulty ignition
–    f aulty carburetion
–      f orward speed too high in relation 
to cutting height
The safety device of the electronic 
circuit board has cut in due to:
–  the safety devices have cut in
–    p roblems with the engagement 
mechanism

SOLUTION
Turn the ignition key to the «STOP» 
position and look for the cause of 
the problem:
–    c heck connections (see 3.4)
–    c heck connections (see 3.4)
–    r echarge the battery  (see 6.2.3)
– replace the fuse (10 A)
(see 6.3.5)
–    d ry using warm air
–    c heck that all starting conditions 
are met  (see 5.2.a)
–    r echarge the battery  (see 6.2.3)
–    c ontact your Dealer
–    r echarge the battery  (see 6.2.3)
–      c heck the level in the tank 
(see 5.3.3)
–      o pen the fuel stopcock  (if fitted)   
(see 5.4.1)
–    c heck the fuel filter
–      c heck that spark plug cap is 
securely fitted
–      c heck that the electrodes are 
clean and have the correct gap
between them
–      c lean or replace the air filter
–      e mpty the fuel tank and refill with 
fresh fuel
–      c heck and replace the fuel filter if 
necessary
–      r educe the forward speed and/or 
raise the cutting height
(see 5.4.5)
Turn the ignition key to «STOP» 
and look for the cause of the 
problem:
–      c heck that all starting conditions 
are met  (see 5.2.b)
–      c ontact your Dealer
