If you need to determine the state of the LED, use the IBM Tape Diagnostic
Tool (ITDT). You can download ITDT directly from www.ibm.com. Once
you are on IBM's web site, search for Tape Diagnostic Tool to locate and
download the software and the user guide. Contact Spectra Guard Support

Changes to SAN or HBA Configurations for LTO-4 Fibre
Channel Drives
The World Wide Node Name (WWNN) and World Wide Port Name
(WWPN) identify a tape drive and its Fibre Channel ports, respectively, on
a Fibre Channel network. The WWNN and the WWPN are each a sequence
of eight, two-digit, hexadecimal numbers generated by the library.
Changes to the way Spectra Logic libraries generate the WWNN and
WWPNs for LTO-4 Fibre Channel drives affect how the drives are
identified when they are on a SAN that uses zoning or when they are
connected to an HBA that uses persistent binding.
For a detailed explanation of the changes to the WWNN and WWPN
generation schemes, check the Spectra Logic Knowledgebase at
www.spectralogic.com/knowledgebase.

Note:
Make sure you install ITDT on a server that can access the
library's tape drives.
Note:
If you plan to continue using LTO-3 Fibre Channel drives after
upgrading your library to BlueScale10.4.0, you do not need make
to any changes to the WWNN or WWPN in your SAN or HBA
configuration. You can ignore the instructions in this section.
Differences Between LTO-3 to LTO-4 Fibre Channel Tape Drives—
The algorithm used by Spectra Logic libraries to generate the WWNN
and WWPN for an LTO-4 Fibre Channel drive differs from the scheme
used for LTO-3 Fibre Channel drives. This difference impacts your
configuration when you upgrade from LTO-3 Fibre Channel drives to
LTO-4 Fibre Channel drives.
Differences Between BlueScale 10.4 and Earlier Versions—The
algorithm for generating the WWNN and WWPN in BlueScale10.4.0
and later differs from the algorithm used by earlier versions of the
BlueScale firmware. This difference impacts your configuration when
you upgrade to BlueScale 10.4 or later in libraries with LTO-4 Fibre
Channel drives.
