Description
3.6 Electrical protection devices
Overload protection
The charging station constantly monitors the input current and the output current. If a
measured current exceeds the limit values during a charging process, the charging station
stops the charging process. The output contactors of the Dispenser are opened so that no
current flows to the vehicle. The open contactors electrically separate the charging module
and the vehicle. The charging current ceases to flow between the Dispenser and the vehicle.
Insulation monitoring
Insulation monitoring is provided by the upstream SICHARGE UC charging station.
To ensure that an electric vehicle is safe, the high-voltage electrical supply system of the
vehicle must not be grounded using an electrically conductive material. An insulation
monitoring device in the upstream charging station, therefore, constantly monitors the
resistance between the DC+ and DC- contacts to the protective earth (PE). If this resistance
falls below the permissible limit value, the DC shutdown loop is triggered and the charging
transaction is stopped immediately. The charging controller displays alarm messages on the
HMI. You cannot operate the Dispenser when an alarm message is active. When the alarm
has been reset, the Dispenser is ready for operation again.
When the isolation fault is resolved, the DC shutdown state is automatically reset.
Contact the electrician in charge if the interference persists.
Short-circuit protection
The DC fuses in the dispenser provide protection against short-circuit currents.
