7.1

Transport

Only transport the butterfl y valve by

suitable means. Do not drop. Handle
carefully.
Dispose of packing material according

to relevant local or national disposal
regulations / environmental protection
laws.
7.2

Delivery and performance

The butterfl y valve is supplied fully
assembled. The operator instructions are
included separately. The scope of delivery is
apparent from the dispatch documents and
the design from the order number.
The performance of the butterfl y valve was
checked at the factory.
Check that all parts are present and

check for any damage immediately upon
receipt.

Storage

Store the butterfl y valve free from dust
G
and moisture in its original packaging.
Store the butterfl y valve with a slightly
G
opened disc.
Avoid UV rays and direct sunlight.

Do not exceed the maximum storage
G
temperature of +40 °C.
Solvents, chemicals, acids, fuels or
G
similar fl uids must not be stored in the
same room as butterfl y valves and their
spare parts.
The product label is located on the neck of
the valve body.

Functional description

The GEMÜ 490 butterfl y valve is lined with
TFM™ (PTFE)/PFA to suit aggressive
chemical applications. It is based on the
design of concentric soft seated valves.
The construction enables many possible
combinations of disc, seat and body.

ATEX particulars

Danger of explosion!

Do not use the ATEX butterfl y valve as

an end-of-line valve.
When used in explosive atmospheres, the
ambient conditions according to chapter 5
"Technical data" apply.
Since the valves do not have their own
ignition source, they fall outside of the area
of validity of Directive 2014/34/EU.
A conformity assessment in accordance with
this directive is therefore neither necessary
nor permissible.
The manufacturer's declaration applies only
to the butterfl y valve with bare shaft.
The overall evaluation must be made by the
plant operator!
