Manufacturer's information

8.1

Transport

Only transport the diaphragm valve by
G
suitable means. Do not drop. Handle
carefully.
Dispose of packing material according
G
to relevant local or national disposal
regulations / environmental protection
laws.
8.2

Delivery and performance

Check that all parts are present and
G
check for any damage immediately upon
receipt.
The scope of delivery is apparent from
G
the dispatch documents and the design
from the order number.
The performance of the diaphragm valve
G
is checked at the factory.
8.3

Storage

Store the diaphragm valve free from dust
G
and moisture in its original packaging.
Avoid UV rays and direct sunlight.
G
Maximum storage temperature: 40 °C.
G
Solvents, chemicals, acids, fuels or
G
similar fluids must not be stored in the
same room as valves and their spare
parts.
8.4

Tools required

The tools required for installation and
G
assembly are not included in the scope
of delivery.
Use appropriate, functional and safe
G
tools.

Functional description

The GEMÜ 693 (plastic version) and
698 (metal version) motorized valves are
diaphragm valves with a 2/2-way body
(GEMÜ 693 / GEMÜ 698), T-body, tank
bottom valve body or multi-port design (the
latter three body configurations only for
GEMÜ 698). They have a low-maintenance
electric actuator with a reversible
synchronous motor, an integral optical
position indicator and manual override. The
actuator performs a linear movement, which
is transferred to the valve body diaphragm
by means of a spindle.
Depending on the version, the supply
voltage is 24 V AC, 120 V AC or 230 V AC
with 50 / 60 Hz (voltage tolerance: +10 %).
The change in frequency from 50 to 60 Hz
results in a reduction in stroke time from 20 s
to 16 s.
The motor transmits power through a
toothed belt drive.
The rotary movement of the drive is
converted to a linear movement by means of
a ball screw.
The safe CLOSED position is set at the
factory to max. 10 bar for DN 15 - 25
and max. 6 bar (4 bar for DN 50 Teflon
diaphragm) for DN 32 - 50.
The "OPEN" and "CLOSED" end positions
are defined by limit switches.
The microswitches with SPDT contact are
internally wired as follows:
the break contact of the SPDT contact
to which the rated voltage is connected
opens when the trip cam is actuated, thus
interrupting the power supply.
The make contact is closed, allowing an end
position signal to be picked up
(e.g.: activation of a signal lamp).
The factory-fitted potentiometer allows the
position of the actuator to be monitored
continuously.
A GEMÜ 1283 3-point controller can be
mounted onto the actuator, making it
possible to control the actuator using a set
value signal of 0 / 4 - 20 mA or key input.
