Installing 3.5" Hard Drives and Carriers into the Storage Chassis
1. Grasp the hard drive carrier handle.
2. Push the hard drive carrier into the hard drive bay until it clicks into the
locked position.
Note: See Figure 6-15 for a layout of the logical numbering of the hard drives.

Installing Optional Rear 2.5" Hot-Swappable Drives

The SC946LTS chassis supports two optional 2.5" hot-swappable hard drives in the
rear of the chassis. These drive are mounted in carriers to simplify their removal
from the chassis. It is not necessary to power down the system before removing
these hard drives.

Installing Hard Drives Into the Rear Carriers

Removing Rear Hard Drive Carriers
1. Push the release button on the drive carrier. This will extend the drive carrier
handle.
2. Use the handle to pull the drive carrier and out of the rear hard drive bay.
Warning: Except for short periods of time (while swapping hard drives), do not operate
the server with the drives removed from the storage chassis drive bays.
