Installing Hot-Swappable 3.5" Hard Drives

The SC946LTS chassis supports forty-five (45) 3.5" hard drives in toolless hard
drive carriers to simplify their removal from the chassis. These carriers also help
promote proper airflow through the storage chassis.
Removing Hard Drive Carriers from the Chassis
1. Power down the system and disconnect the AC power cords from the rear of
the power supplies. Open the storage chassis cover as described in Section
6-3.
2. Remove hard drives beginning from the center of the storage chassis and
working out to the outer HDDs.
3. Slide the release button on the drive carrier to open the handle.
4. Use the handle to pull the drive carrier up and out of the chassis.
Warning: Except for short periods of time (while swapping hard drives), do not operate
the server with the drives removed from the storage chassis drive bays.
