IMPORTANT
The following are the paper sizes that can be stapled: A3, A4, A4R
Stapling is automatically performed only when the originals are fed through the feeder (option). When
using the platen glass to place originals, staple the copies manually after copying is complete. (See
'Manual Stapling Function', on p. 5-42.)
You cannot use the Staple-sort function with thin paper (64 to 79 g/m
Paper 1, or Special Paper 2.
NOTE
If the message "Load staples". appears on the touch panel display, and the
indicator lights, you need to load staples into the stapler sorter. After replacing the staple case, press
(Stapling Start/Stop) to continue stapling the remaining copies manually. (See 'Replacing the
Staple Case', on p. 5-61.)
The maximum number of sets that can be specified is 20. If you enter a number greater than 20, the
number is automatically changed to 20 when you press
The maximum number of copies that can be delivered to each of the bins is as follows:
- A4, A4R:
30 sheets (80 to 104.7 g/m
20 sheets (157 to 209 g/m
- A3:
25 sheets (80 to 104.7 g/m
15 sheets (157 to 209 g/m
If the number of output sheets exceeds the stapling capacity, the copies will be sorted but not
stapled. In this case, manual stapling is also disabled.
Once the output exceeds the capacity of the bins, copying will temporarily stop and will only resume
after all the output copies are removed from the bins.
When copying onto A4R-size paper, the output copies may only be sorted but not stapled depending
on the copy exposure. When this happens, the message "Stapling not possible due to incorrect
loading". will appear on the touch panel display. In this case, manual stapling is also disabled.

Non-sort Mode (Sort, Group, or Staple-sort not specified)

All copies are output to the uppermost non-sort bin.
IMPORTANT
The maximum capacity of the non-sort bin is approximately 250 sheets (80 g/m
capacity may cause paper jams. Always remove the output copies once the maximum capacity is
reached.
