Check 2
Increase speaker volume by turning the volume control knob clockwise.
NOTE: The volume control knob is located behind the left speaker near the
bottom of the monitor.
If audio can be heard from the speakers, perform the Repair Completion Process.
If audio cannot be heard from the speakers, perform Procedure 5.
Procedure 5
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the monitor's speakers are operating
properly. To perform this procedure, perform the following Check.
Check
Use another program (such as the radio, TV, video games, or .WAV files) to play
audio.
If audio can be heard from the speakers, perform Procedure 6. If audio cannot be
heard from the speakers, perform the Monitor Troubleshooting Process.
Procedure 6
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the data and sound cables that connect the
CD-ROM drive to the system board, and the power cable that supplies power from the power
supply unit to the CD-ROM drive through the P5 connector, are damaged or are not
connected properly. To perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as
instructed.
Check 1
Inspect the data, sound, and power cables to the CD-ROM drive for damage and
improper connections.
If the data, sound, and power cables are not damaged and are properly connected
to the back of the CD-ROM drive and the system board, perform Procedure 7. If
the data, sound or power cables are damaged or are not properly connected,
perform Check 2.
Check 2
(A) Replace damaged cables, or reconnect the improperly connected connectors
(refer to section 4.1.3.). (B) Test to determine if the problem still exists.
If the problem still exists, perform Procedure 7. If the problem no longer exists,
perform the Repair Completion Process.
Procedure 7
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the power supply unit is providing the
appropriate voltages to the CD-ROM drive. To perform this procedure, perform the
following Check.
Check
Measure to determine if the CD-ROM drive power cable (P5) has 12VDC (yellow)
and 5VDC (red).
If the voltages are within specification and remain stable, perform Procedure 8. If
the voltages are not within specification or do not remain stable, perform the Power
Supply Troubleshooting Process.
