Check 3
(A) Replace the expansion card or device that is suspected of causing the boot
failure. (B) Reboot the system.
If the system successfully loads DOS, perform Procedure 3. If the system does
not successfully load DOS, perform Check 2.
Check 4
(A) Install all expansion cards and devices. (B) Reboot the system.
If the problem still exists, perform Check 2. If the problem no longer exists,
perform Check 5.
Check 5
Determine if the original problem still exists.
If the original problem still exists, perform the Problem Definition Process. If the
original problem no longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
Procedure 3
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the computer is receiving sufficient power
and to determine if the boot problem is associated with an FRU. To perform this procedure,
begin with Check 1 and continue as instructed.
Check 1
(A) Use the Power On/Off button on the front of the computer to turn the system
off (See Figure 2-2 for computer switch (button) locations). (B) Wait 15 seconds
then turn the computer back on.
If the Power/Sleep LED indicator illuminates (turns green), perform Check 2. If
the Power/Sleep LED does not illuminate, perform Check 3.
Check 2
Examine the screen to determine if a message(s) is displayed.
If a message(s) is displayed on the screen, perform Check 4. If a message(s) is
not displayed, perform Check 5.
Check 3
Determine if the fan operates.
If the fan operates, perform the LED Troubleshooting Process. If the fan does
not operate, perform the Power Supply Troubleshooting Process.
Check 4
Determine if the displayed message is a BIOS-generated error message (refer to
section 2.4.2).
If a BIOS-generated error message is displayed, perform Check 6. If a BIOS-
generated error message is not displayed, perform Procedure 4.
Check 5
Test the system with another VGA monitor.
If a message(s) displays on the screen, replace the Infinia™ monitor and perform
Check 4. If a message(s) does not display, perform the Monitor No Display
Troubleshooting Process.
Check 6
Determine if the displayed message is a CMOS error.
If a CMOS error is displayed, perform Check 7. If a CMOS error is not
displayed, perform Check 8.
