Procedure 2
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the Power/Sleep LED is operating properly.
To perform this procedure, complete the following instructions, then begin with Check 1 and
continue as directed.
Reconnect the Power/Sleep LED (if it is disconnected) to the system board.
NOTE: When reconnecting this connector, verify that the black wire is on top
and the green wire is on bottom, and that the label (POWER LED) on the
connector itself is facing towards the front of the computer.
Verify that the computer is turned on using the Power button on the front of the
computer (See Figure 2-2 for computer switch (button) locations).
Check 1 Determine if the Power/Sleep LED illuminates (turns green) after the computer is
turned on.
If the Power/Sleep LED illuminates, perform Check 2. If the Power/Sleep LED
does not illuminate, perform Procedure 7.
Check 2 (A) Verify that the Sleep switch operates properly (refer to the Switch
Troubleshooting Process). (B) Engage this switch by pushing it in.
If the Power/Sleep LED flashes green, perform Check 3. If this LED does not
flash green, perform Procedure 6.
Check 3 Determine if the problem still exists.
If the problem still exists, perform the Problem Definition Process. If the problem
no longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
Procedure 3
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the HDD LED is operating properly. To
perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as instructed. Before performing
this check, perform the following instructions:
Connect the HDD LED connector back to the system board, if the LED is
disconnected.
NOTE: When reconnecting this connector, verify that the black wire is on top
and the blue wire is on bottom, and that the label (HDD LED) on the connector
itself is facing towards the back of the computer.
Verify that the computer is turned on using the Power button on the front of the
computer (See Figure 2-2 for computer switch (button) locations).
Check 1 Determine if the HDD LED illuminates (turns green) when the HDD is accessed.
If the HDD LED illuminates, perform Check 2. If the HDD LED does not
illuminate, perform Procedure 11.
