1.1.4 Cable Connection

Connect the console drawer to the server with the USB cable (1.8m) and VGA cable (1.8m) or DVI cable (1.8m)
provided with the console drawer.
One end of USB cable has a Type B connector to connect with the console drawer. The other end of USB cable has
a Type A connector to connect with the server.
Both ends of VGA cable have D-Sub 15-pin connector (male). VGA cable is composed of black cable and blue
connector.
Both ends of DVI cable have DVI-D connector (male). DVI cable is composed of black cable and black connector.
The console drawer can connect with KVM switch unit.
Connect the console drawer to the KVM switch unit with the USB cable (1.8m) provided with the console drawer and
the VGA cable (1.8m).

Be sure to pow er off this console drawer and unplug the pow er cord from a pow er outlet
before installing/removing any optional internal device or connecting/disconnecting any
interface cable to/from this console draw er. If this console draw er is off-powered but its
pow er cord is plugged to a pow er source, touching an internal component, cable, or
connector may cause an electric shock or a fire resulted from a short circuit.
Before connecting interface cables to the console drawer, check if either or both of the cable
connectors are defective and any connector pin is bent or dirt. Using defective connectors,
bent connector pin, or dirty cables may cause a fire due to short-circuit.
Use only interface cables provided by NEC and locate a proper device and connector
before connecting a cable. Using an unauthorized cable or connecting a cable to an
improper destination may cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire. Also, observe the followi n g
notes on using and connecting an interface cable.
After you connect interface cables to the console drawer, make sure the cables are securel y
locked w ith screws. If connectors are not locked, short circuit resulting in a fire may occur.
Do not step on interface cables or apply any mechanical stress (e.g. putting a heavy object
on them) or heat to cables. When you disconnect interface cables, unlock and pull a cabl e
straight out by gripping the connector part. If you give mechanical stress or heat to cables,
pry connectors, or pull a cable by gripping the cable part, cables / connectors may be
damaged. This may cause electric shock due to deterioration of insulation coating, or a short
circuit resulting in a fire.
