The *.DAT Coefficient file — Always download the file on the CD supplied to match
subscriber line characteristics.
The *.DAT Voice Prompts file —This file is not currently applicable to the 3Com VCX
V7111 Gateways.
To download software updates, follow these steps:
Access the embedded web server (see

Click the Software Update menu and click the link HTTP Download (if you have a TFTP

server you can optionally click the link TFTP Download). The Send file (CMP, INI,
Coefficient or Call Progress Tone) from your computer to gateway screen opens; see
Figure 20.

To download the *.CMP Software Image file, the INI file, Call Progress Tones (*.DAT)

file, or the *.DAT Coefficient file, click Browse adjacent to the file you require and
navigate to the location of the new software version file (after receiving it from 3Com or
your local supplier).
Click Send File to begin the file download process. When the download is complete, the

following verification message is displayed at the bottom of the screen:
File download succeeded.
After updating the *.CMP file, an automatic reset takes place. After updating any of the

other files, click Reset and then Restart. Wait for the VCX V7111 to reset. After self-
testing, the Ready and LAN LEDs on the front panel light green. Any malfunction causes
the Ready LED to change to red.
