Unpacking
To unpack the VCX V7111, follow these steps:
Open the carton and remove the packing materials.

Remove the VCX V7111 from the carton.

Check that there is no damage to the equipment.

Check, retain, and process any documents.

Notify 3Com or your local supplier of any damage or discrepancies.

Package Contents
Ensure that the VCX V7111 package contains (in addition to the device):
AC power cable
Life Line cable (RJ-11 adapter cable for 1 to 2). (Supplied with the 2FXS, 4FXS, and
8FXS only)
Three brackets (two short, one long) and bracket-to-device screws for 19-inch rack
installation option (2FXS, 4FXS, 4FXO, 8FXS, and 8FXO only)
Two short equal-length brackets and bracket-to-device screws for the 24FXS 19-inch
rack installation
Installing the VCX V7111
The 3Com VCX V7111 can be installed, as required, on a desktop or shelf, in a standard
19-inch rack, or mounted on a wall (2FXS, 4FXS, 4FXO, 8FXS, and 8FXO only). See

Installing the VCX V7111 on a Desktop or a Shelf:
No brackets are required. Place the VCX V7111 on the desktop in the position you require
(Figure
1) and cable it as in
Figure 1
shows the VCX V7111 8FXS. The front panels of the 2FXS, 4FXS, 4FXO, and
8FXO are similar except for the number of channels and their corresponding LEDs.
