Installing the Life Line
The Life Line provides a wired phone connection to any PSTN or PBX port when there is no
power, or the LAN fails. The 8FXS and 4FXS provide a Life Line connection on port #4 (see
Figure
14). 2FXS provides a Life Line connection on port #2.
The 24FXS, 4FXO, and 8FXO do NOT support the Life Line.
The Life Line phone is connected to port #4 on the 4FXS and 8FXS only or port #2 on the
2FXS only, and is wired to the PSTN (see
the Life Line phone even when the device loses AC power or the LAN connection. The Life
Line's splitter connects pins #1 and #4 to another source of an FXS port, and pins #2 and #3
to the POTS phone. See the Life Line pin out in
