Starting or Stopping BERT on a Channel

If you enable the generation of bit errors at a consistent rate, you can compare the
number of errors transmitted to the number received in a loopback test.
Conducting a BERT allows you to validate or troubleshoot connections.
You must enable BERT mode to conduct this test. The default setting is disabled.
To enable or disable BERT mode, go to the logical line test or T1 test prompt
(for example,
following command:
bert-mode
The following example shows how to disable and reenable a BERT on slot 2,
connector 1, FT1 channel 5:
t1-test/2/1/5#
t1-test/2/1/5#
t1-test/2/1/5#

Resetting Local BERT Counters for a Channel

To reset a BERT to incorporate changes to the BERT parameter settings, go to the
logical line or T1 test prompt (for example,
t1-2/1/4

The following example shows how to reset a BERT on slot 2, connector 1,
T1 channel 4:

Viewing BERT Results

To display your test results, enter the following command from any BCC prompt:
