Renaming digital inputs

To help identify inputs connected to the Bartók DAC, you can rename them. You need to connect
the unit to a computer and run a terminal emulator program to rename the inputs. Example
terminal emulator programs include Tera Term, PuTTY, or ZTerm.
To rename the digital inputs using Tera Term on a Windows™ computer:
1. Download and install Tera Term on a computer.
2. On your Bartók DAC, change the RS-232 option to Text.
3. Use a USB-to-RS-232 adapter cable to connect the RS-232 socket on the unit to a USB
socket on the computer.
4. Run Tera Term on the computer.
5. Select Serial.
6. Select OK to connect to your Bartók DAC.
7. Select Setup > Serial Port.
8. In the Baud rate field, enter 115200.
9. Select OK.
10. In the terminal window, enter the command: NAME n = newname, where:
n is the number of the standard input name:
newname is the personalised name, which can be up to 8 characters long.
For example, to rename the USB1 input to Laptop, enter NAME 7 = Laptop.
11. Press the Enter key to update the input name.
12. Rename any other inputs, then close Tera Term and disconnect the computer from your
Bartók DAC.
You can revert the inputs to their default names.
Renaming your Bartók DAC
To help identify your Bartók DAC on a network, you can rename it.
1. Connect a PC, laptop or mobile device to the same network as Bartók DAC.
2. Press the Menu button three times.
Make a note of the IP address that is displayed.
3. Press the Power button to close the menu.
4. On your PC, laptop or mobile device, open a browser and enter the IP address of your
Bartók DAC in the address bar.
The web client opens.
5. Select Device Settings.
6. Edit the Device Name field and select Submit.
