Line outputs
The balanced and unbalanced outputs on the unit are independent, which allows you to connect
each output to a different amplifier.
Connect balanced outputs to true balanced inputs only. The outputs are electronically balanced
and floating, which reduces hum or interference picked up by the cable. There are three
connections:
1
3
The balanced outputs do not work correctly when they are connected to an unbalanced
input.
Digital inputs
AES digital inputs
You can use the AES1 and AES2 inputs individually at data rates up to 192 kS/s or DSD/64.
If the DUAL AES menu page is set to ON or AUTO, you can use AES1 and AES2 together as a
Dual AES pair. Dual AES supports the following inputs:
PCM data (24/88.2 to 24/384)
dCS-encrypted DSD data from Vivaldi, Rossini, Scarlatti, and Paganini Transports
DoP data (DSD/64 or DSD/128 over PCM)
For more information, see "Enabling and disabling Dual AES" on page 37.
Dual AES works correctly only when the source generates Dual AES data.
SPDIF digital inputs
SPDIF1 and SPDIF2 are inputs that accept sample rates up to 192 kS/s, including DoP/64.
SPDIF3 is a Toslink optical receiver that is guaranteed at up to 96 kS/s, but may be usable at up
to 192 kS/s.
Before you use the SPDIF3 input, remove the dust cover from the port.
