The Contact Sensor is used to monitor whether a door or window is open or closed. The sensor is packaged as a kit featuring two parts: the sensor itself, and a

magnetic contact. Typically, the sensor is mounted on a fixed object, such as a door or window frame, while the magnetic contact is mounted on a movable

surface, such as the door or window itself. When the magnetic contact is positioned in close proximity to the body of the sensor, the sensor will report that the

monitored door or window is closed. If the magnetic contact is moved away from the sensor body, such as when the monitored door or window is opened, the

sensor sends an event to the Wireless System Controller, which places a notification into your archive screen. The homesight software can configure the sensor to

send an event upon making contact (by closing the door or window) or upon breaking contact (by opening the door or window), or for both open and close.

Mounting the Contact Sensor

The Contact Sensor should typically be mounted no more than 60 to 80 feet from the Wireless System Controller (for indoor operation). The sensor and controller

use radio frequencies to communicate with each other. Those frequencies can go through objects such as walls, ceilings, and floors, so you can put the sensor in a

different room from the controller.

The Contact Sensor package is constructed of UV-resistant ABS plastic, allowing for indoor or sheltered outdoor use. The sensor should be mounted in an upright

position, with the antenna pointing upward. The sensor should be mounted so that the LED lamp (located on the front side of the sensor) is visible. The lamp

flashes when the sensor is communicating with the Wireless System Controller.
