3.1.1

Start the Satcore unit

3.1.1.1 Starting the PC Workstation

1. Verify that the SATCORE has not been damaged during transportation. If needed, open the top cover and
verify that the electronic sub-assemblies are in good condition.
2. Connect the SATCORE to the external world : network for remote operations, KVM device or
screen/keyboard/mouse for local operations if required.
3. Check that the SATCORE chassis is properly grounded and connected to the AC power via the appropriate
power cord. The SATCORE embeds a redundant power supply. It is recommended to connect both supplies to
the AC power. Note that a sound signal will automatically ring if only one supply is connected, and
automatically stop as soon as the second supply is connected. The rear panel red button enables to stop the
sound signal manually.
4. Wait for the end of the boot-up sequence. Depending on the Autolog setting (ON or OFF), manual intervention
may be required (type Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then enter the login password). Default password at delivery is
cortex. Default Autolog setting at delivery : ON.
5. Without external screen, the local front panel display enables to set or get the network parameters. Default
configuration is DHCP for both NIC connections.

3.1.1.2 Start-up Menu

At the end of the boot-up sequence, the Signal Processing Software (SPS) is automatically started.
If the set of electronic boards is present, the following SPS icon
screen. The icon is first yellow during FPGA downloading, then white when SPS is ready for use. As soon as the
SPS is ready, FPGA temperatures are provided to fan controller for adapting fan speed (and fan noise).
In the case of a major hardware problem, a pop-up window will be displayed to inform the user that SPS cannot
access to electronic boards. In that case, contact Zodiac Data Systems Customer Service for troubleshooting
procedure.
By default, the Cortex MCS Software is automatically started as well. By default, the Web interface is not started.
