Chapter 3: Description
3.3.

Operating Conditions and Environmental Requirements

In order to achieve optimum performance of the laser system, please observe the following guidelines.

3.3.1. Temperature Range

Control of the ambient room temperature is important for stable operation of the system. The lab temperature
should be in the range of 17 °C – 25 °C, and should not change by more than 3 °C over a 24-hour period.

3.3.2. Air Quality and Humidity

Some optical components in the Tiberius Laser Head are not hermetically sealed. In particular, the window at the
output aperture is directly exposed to the room environment. In addition, small amounts of contamination and
moisture can penetrate the sealed the cavity. The PACU continuously filters and dehumidifies the cavity, but an
excessively dusty or humid environment can overload its capacity.
The humidity should also be controlled to avoid condensation on the output window and other unsealed optical
components. The system should not be placed close to air conditioning vents, so as to avoid sudden changes of
humidity and/or temperature.

3.3.3. Vibration Isolation Requirements

A vibration-isolated optical table is required to run the laser.
