Chapter 2 2.1. Laser classification Per 21 C.F.R. §1040.10 and IEC 60825-1:2014, the Tiberius is classified as a Class IV or Class 4 laser. The latter form of the classification is used throughout the rest of this manual. 2.2. Laser safety labels Figure 1 Laser safety label per IEC 60825-1:2014 §7.
Chapter 2: Safety Class 4 lasers such as the Tiberius may cause damage to the skin, and also to the eye, even from the viewing of diffuse reflections. These hazards may also apply to indirect or non-specular reflections of the beam, even from apparently matte surfaces.
3.1. Introduction The Tiberius laser is a soft aperture, Kerr-lens mode locked (KLM) Ti:Sapphire laser capable of producing widely tunable, high-power femtosecond laser pulses, designed for industrial and scientific research. The Ti:Sapphire oscillator and the pump laser are fully integrated into a temperature-stabilized, sealed, and purged housing. A patented fast-tuning mechanism (Patent # 9,871,340) allows the Tiberius to achieve an industry-leading tuning speed of up to 4000 nm/s.
17 °C – 25 °C, and should not change by more than 3 °C over a 24-hour period. 3.3.2. Air Quality and Humidity Some optical components in the Tiberius Laser Head are not hermetically sealed. In particular, the window at the output aperture is directly exposed to the room environment. In addition, small amounts of contamination and moisture can penetrate the sealed the cavity.
® Tiberius Tunable Femtosecond Ti:Sapphire Laser Chapter 4: Installation Installation Chapter 4 The safety of any system incorporating the equipment is the responsibility of the assembler of the system. The safety information included in this manual should be read and understood before any installation.

6. Loosen the three clamps holding the Tiberius Laser Head to the table. 7. The Tiberius is shipped with an end cap threaded on to the output port of the Tiberius Laser Head. This cap is for protection of the shutter and output window. If the end cap is available and the laser is being stored for an extended time, install it on the output port.

Before operating the laser, check the coolant lines between the chiller and the Tiberius laser head. Power on the chiller and verify that the coolant is running and that there are no leaks. Then power on the Tiberius Controller and the Pump Laser Controller. In addition, verify the PACU is running at about 2.5 L/min.
You must change the IP address of your host computer’s network interface card to a compatible address in the address space of the Ethernet device you want to connect. For example, The Tiberius controller has a default communication mode for web-setup that uses IP address 172.16.1.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. To communicate with the controller, set the host PCs wired Ethernet interface to a similar address like 172.16.1.2...

Chapter 5: Setup and Operation 5. The computer’s Ethernet adapter must be set to a unique static IP address in the same address domain as the Tiberius Controller’s address of 172.16.1.1, and with a subnet mask set to 255.255.0.0. 6. In the adapters IPv4 properties screen shown on the above, choose “Use the following IP address:”, then enter IP address 172.16.1.2 into the IP address field as shown.

The chiller takes several minutes to stabilize. If it was just turned on, give it a few minutes to stabilize. If the Tiberius emission is enabled, turn it off. Operating the laser without proper cooling can cause severe permanent damage.
Network Connection A reliable connection to the Internet is required for remote support via TeamViewer Host. See connection 5 in §4.1 Connections. The connection is not required for normal operation of the Tiberius. It may be physically disconnected when unneeded.
