4 Maintenance Procedures

Maintenance schedule

Perform the following routine maintenance on the column heater to ensure
reliable operation and accurate results. When using the system throughout
the day (and on nights and weekends), or when using aggressive solvents,
such as buffers, perform the maintenance tasks more frequently.

Frequency
As needed. For example, when the leak
sensor is damaged or an error message
states that the leak sensor is not detected.
As needed. The typical failure modes are as
follows:
• High back-pressure. The column causes a
high-pressure shutdown.
• Method requirements are not attained.
This can be exhibited by poor peak shape,
resolution between peaks lost, tailing,
and so on. Perform a plate count to
establish column efficiency.
